“I’m not saying I’m old…but when I was in school we made our parents ashtrays for Christmas” is a saying that has been printed on many images. Making ashtrays was a popular project in art class, in a time period when many people smoked cigarettes (1950s-1980s).

Your Mom will love anything you get her, especially if it comes from your heart. Back when I was in grade school, many years ago, We always made our parents ashtrays and none of them smoked. They still loved our art class gifts to them.

I am the age where we made ceramic ashtrays in art class at school to give our parents as presents for Mother’s or Father’s Day. Usually had a hand print in it, and everyone thought it was a wonderful idea.

Yes! And as kids we routinely made ashtrays for our parents as school art projects (or, if we were lucky, in ceramics classes, very popular when I was a kid.)

When I was in elementary school we made ashtrays for our parents in art class.
In high school students could go outside between classes to smoke with written permission from their parents.
