“Sixty might be the new forty, but 9:00 is the new midnight” is a jocular saying about aging that has been printed on many images. “If 50 is the new 40 then 9 o’clock is the new midnight” was posted on Twitter by Danny Kushmer on November 18, 2013. “If 60 is the new 40, then 9 PM must be the new midnight for people of my age” was posted on Twitter by Steve of Pimlico on April 27, 2016.
 
The saying became popular in August 2018, probably from an image. “Sixty might be the new forty, but 9 is the new midnight” was posted on Twitter by Glen Ewald on August 22, 2018.
 
“If 40 is the new 30 and 50 is the new 40, why can’t Thursday be the new Friday?” is a somewhat similar saying.

With people living longer and healthier lives than ever before, it makes sense to say “Sixty is the New Forty.”
 
Of course for us sixty-year-olds to look like forty-year-olds we need our beauty rest.
 
That’s why we are all New Yorkers Now.
 
Because if Sixty is the New Forty, 9 pm is the New Midnight!
