“Would you like to share a cab?” (joke)
Many jokes were told about New York City’s dangerous economic times in the 1970s. Comedian Marty Allen told this joke in 1975:
“A visitor to New York was asked at the airport by a stranger, ‘Would you like to share a cab?’ He said he would. ‘O.K.,’ said the first party, ‘you take the hub caps and I’ll take the motor.’”
British comedian Tommy Cooper (1921-1984) told a similar joke, but it’s uncertain when he first said it.

Tommy Cooper One-liners
18 OCTOBER 2011
Tommy Cooper (1921 – 1984) was a very popular British comedian and magician, who tragically died in the middle of his act on live television. A very funny but flawed man who made a lot of people laugh. I think it’s time to revisit some of his old, traditional but funny, one-liners.
