Scarebus (Airbus nickname)
Airbus is an aircraft manufacturing subsidiary of EADS, a European aerospace company. People who believe that its planes are not safe have nicknamed the company “Scarebus” (or “ScareBus”).
“Scarebus” has been cited in print since at least 1994.
Wikipedia: Airbus
Airbus SAS (/ˈɛərbʌs/, French: [ɛʁbys] ( listen), German: [ˈɛːɐbʊs], Spanish: [ˈerβus]) is an aircraft manufacturing subsidiary of EADS, a European aerospace company. Based in Blagnac, France, a suburb of Toulouse, and with significant activity across Europe, the company produces approximately half of the world’s jet airliners.
Airbus began as a consortium of aerospace manufacturers, Airbus Industrie. Consolidation of European defence and aerospace companies in 1999 and 2000 allowed the establishment of a simplified joint-stock company in 2001, owned by EADS (80 %) and BAE Systems (20 %). After a protracted sales process BAE sold its shareholding to EADS on 13 October 2006.
Airbus employs around 63,000 people at sixteen sites in four European Union countries: France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain.

Lately they don’t always seem to stop before the end of the runway, as I recall. Correct me if I’m wrong.

A ScareBus A320 taking off from Bristol International Airport in England slams the ground. A sudden downdraft caused the underside of the ScareBus 320 to touch the runway for a moment. The pilot immediately after takeoff circled the airport and landed again. This happened Sat 27 jun. Operating carrier Air 2000. I wonder if this would have happened to a BOEING 75?

Sparky. Boeing and Scarebus could build an SST (M1.5-2.2) of A3XX/B747 proportions (and with similar operating economics) tomorrow afternoon if they really really truly wanted to

I haven’t got a chance to talk with too many airbus pilots but on pprune I have heard the name scarebus mentioned a no of times. So is this all just humour or is there something more behind the origins of this name?

airbus = scarebus?
Maybe I’ve read one too many articles of the airbus tails snapping off, but do any of you feel more secure in a particular make of airplane, be it boeing or airbus, tupolev, ilyushin, embrarer, etc.?

From the article:
“The JetBlue flight was forced to circle the Las Vegas airport for four hours because the Airbus A320 can not land on a full fuel tank and it is incapable of dumping excess fuel.”
