Burkinabé Entertainment, LLC., is seeking to bring the exposure of African culture to new levels in New York City through the establishment of MAFRIKA FESTIVAL, (Music of Africa), an annual, outdoor music festival featuring both traditional and modern African musicians. Burkinabé Entertainment aims to hold the first of these festivals on Sunday, June 4th, 2006, at Harlem, Marcus Garvey Park.

With thousands of Africans living in Harlem, and thousands more dispersed throughout the five boroughs of New York, it is surprising that large cultural events dedicated to the African Diaspora are so few and far between. The MAFRIKA FESTIVAL aims to fill this void by showcasing African musicians of diverse artistic sensibilities, chosen both from the Continent and from the Diaspora in America, so that they may bring together members of New York's many diverse communities in a celebration of African culture.

New York City, Harlem, one of the great cultural capitals of the world, was the logical choice for the first MAFRIKA FESTIVAL.
