Glory Road (Eighth Avenue, between 42nd and 44th Streets)

Syndicated newspaper columnist Walter Winchell (1897-1972) wrote in a column in March 1949:
   
“Sights You Never See on the New York Map: ‘Glory Road’ (8th Avenue between 42nd and 44th) where a constant stream of roving evangelists hand out tracts warning passersby their sins will find them out,”
       
“Roving evangelists” still exist in the Times Square area, but no nickname is now used. The name “Glory Road” does not have any other known citations and is of historical interest today.
