“September is the Monday of the summer!” is a saying. June is the beginning of summer, like Friday is the beginning of the weekend. July is prime summer, like Saturday is a prime day of the weekend. August signals the end of summer, like Sunday signals the end of the weekend.  September means that summer is over, just like Monday means that the weekend is over.
