“Read the ingredients in the food before you buy it? You must be an anti-fooder!”
People who were hesitant about taking Covid-19 (coronavirus) vaccines were called anti-vaxxers. Some memes compared an anti-vaxxer to a person reading a food product’s ingredients label, and used the jocular (or illogical) invented term “anti-fooder.”
This “anti-fooder” meme was posted on Reddit—Memes on June 28, 2021:
“Today at the store I saw someone check
the ingredients on some soup.
She must be an Anti-Fooder since she
doesn’t blindly trust the company that
made the product to decide what’s best
for her body.
These Anti-Fooders are dangerous
and put the rest of us at risk.”

“Anti-fooder” had been used before these two memes. “That’s akin to saying a vegetarian is ‘anti-fooder’ or a temperate person ‘anti-drinker’. It’s simply a question of weighing up the evidence and making an informed personal choice” was posted on Twitter by OldTory on November 12, 2020. “If I don’t eat margarine am I an anti-fooder?” was posted on Twitter by nixer on January 21, 2021. “I’m allergic to seafood. That’s akin to saying a vegetarian is ‘anti-fooder’ or a temperate person ‘anti-drinker’. It’s simply a question of weighing up the evidence and making an informed personal choice. This one stinks of opportunism, political skulduggery and panic. Not very attractive.

If you’re still calling a covid vaccine “untested” after one has been approved by the UK’s incredibly stringent vaccine regulator, then you’re an anti-vaxxer.

If I don’t eat margarine am I an anti-fooder? Its legitimate for people to have concerns about a vaccine that was delivered in record time, especially when many effective treatments are available but being oddly discredited.

I’m allergic to seafood. Does that make me an “anti-fooder”?

Do you ever read the ingredients on the food you buy from shops? If so, you must be a anti-fooder!

If you read the ingredients on food and decide not to eat it based on the ingredients that you deem unknown/unhealthy, are you an anti-fooder?
