“Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down”

“Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy” is a saying that has been printed on many images.

“Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy” was printed in The New Mexican (Santa Fe, NM) on August 21, 2001. “‘Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.’—Eskimo Legend” was posted on the newsgroup alt.sewing on March 2, 2002. “Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.~~Eskimo Folklore” was posted on the newgroup alt.wisdom on March 5, 2002.

“‘Perhaps they are not stars in the sky / But rather openings where our loved ones/ Shine down to let us know they are happy.’ - from the film, ‘Hope Floats’” was printed in the book The Shattered Heart:
A Mother’s Infinite Love
(2009) by Rose Monreal. The saying probably comes from the film Hope Floats (1998).

The saying is often shown on images with the Peanuts comic strip character Charlie Brown. The comic strip, by artist Charles M. Schulz (1922-2000), ended in 2000, and this saying was never part of any published Peanuts comic strip. “Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy - Charlie Brown” was posted on Twitter by Taylor Jordan ✌️ on October 1, 2013. “‘Perhaps they are not stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy’ -Charlie Brown” was posted on Twitter by Kelsey Stratton on October 8, 2013.

“What if they’re not stars, but holes poked into the top of the container so we can breathe” is another saying about stars.

Wikipedia: Hope Floats
Hope Floats is a 1998 American drama film directed by Forest Whitaker and starring Sandra Bullock, Harry Connick Jr., and Gena Rowlands.

Written by Steven Rogers, the story follows Birdee (Bullock), an unassuming housewife whose life is disrupted when her husband (Michael Paré) reveals his infidelity to her on a Ricki Lake-style talk show.
