MAGA (Microsoft, Apple, Google and Amazon)
“MAGA” (meaning “Make America Great Again”) was popularized in by Donald Trump in his 2016 presidential campaign. “‘Trump’s meeting with tech CEOS: Immigration, deregulation and more’ #MAGA for @Microsoft, @Apple; @Google + @amazon“ was posted on Twitter by André C. Gauthier on June 19, 2017. “Hey, @JoeSquawk and @BeckyQuick and @andrewrsorkin! Instead of #FANG how abt #MAGA (Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon)! That’s the ticket!!” was posted on Twitter by Jill and Jim on June 5, 2018.
“MAGA” became popular in 2020, wen the companies Microsoft, Apple, Google and Amazon were the first four companies to each reach $1 trillion market cap. “Trump heaps praise on trillion dollar tech club — calling four big companies MAGA” was published by CNBC on February 11, 2020.
Several of the “MAGA” companies are also in the earlier terms “FANG” (Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google) and “FAANG” (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google).
“FANTA” is a similar acronym that stands for Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Tesla and Alphabet. “NOSH” stands for Nike, O’Reilly, Starbucks and Home Depot. “MAGS” stands for Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Salesforce. The ‘Nifty Nine” includes FANG, plus Priceline, Ebay, Starbucks, Microsoft and Salesforce.
