“Dumplings are just Chinese ravioli”
Dumplings is a dish that is sometimes compared to ravioli. “Chinese ravioli” was printed in the book San Francisco’s Chinatown (1936), and the earliest cites usually referred to wonton dumplings. “Jiaozi (Chinese ravioli clipped in vinegar)” was printed in a 1984 book; jiaozi are sometimes called “potstickers.”

“Ravioli are just Italian dumplings” is a reverse saying. “Ravioli are just Italian dumplings, and dumplings are just Chinese ravioli” was posted on Reddit—Shower Thoughts on April 21, 2018.

Jiaozi ([tɕjàu.tsɨ]) are a kind of Chinese dumpling, commonly eaten in China and other parts of East Asia. They are one of the major foods eaten during the Chinese New Year and year-round in the northern provinces. Jiaozi typically consist of a ground meat and/or vegetable filling wrapped into a thinly rolled piece of dough, which is then sealed by pressing the edges together
