“Your life does not get better by chance; it gets better by change”
Motivational speaker and author Jim Rohn (1930-2009) has been credited with the following advice:
“You must constantly ask yourself these questions: Who am I around? What are they doing to me? What have they got me reading? What have they got me saying? Where do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, what do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay? Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”
It’s not known when Rohn said this, but he received credit a few years before his 2009 death.
Although Rohn is most frequently credited, others have also received credit for similar words.“You don’t get better by chance; you get better by change” was printed in the book Juggling with Finesse (1987) by Kit Summers and Robert Schwarz. “Attorney Kerry Randall said, ‘Contrary to popular opinion, life does not get better by chance, life gets better by change’” was cited in the book Talent Is Never Enough: Discover the Choices That Will Take You Beyond Your Talent (2007) by John C. Maxwell.
