“You can’t outrun a Motorola”
“No matter how fast your car is, you can’t outrun a police radio” is a law enforcement saying. “You can’t outrun a Motorola” (Motorola is a popular brand of police radio) is a version of the saying.
“You can’t outrun a Motorola (radio)” was printed in the Hanford (CA) Sentinel on March 26, 1979. “We’ve got to get off this road. They’ve called ahead by now and you can’t outrun a Motorola” was said by the character Elwood Blues in the movie Blues Brothers 2000 (1998).
26 March 1979, Hanford (CA) Sentinel, “High Speed Training Pays Off for CHP Officers (UPI), pg. 2, cols. 3-4:
“You can’t outrun a Motorola (radio),” said (CHP sergeant Wes—ed.) Anderson, noting instances when a motorist eludes the patrol are “very rare” and usually occur on crowded city streets.
14 November 1980, Tulare (CA) Advance-Register, “Tulare’s shrinking police car is a gutless wonder” by Wayne Welch, pg. 16, col. 4:
So however much soup a fleeing suspect might have under the hood, he can’t, as the saying goes, outrun a Motorola.
13 September 1983, The Daily Register (Red Bank, NJ), “Cops in Shrewsbury forced to slow down,” pg. A3, col. 1:
One borough resident pointed out that while a police car going 40 miles per hour may not be able to conduct a high speed chase, “nobody can outrun a Motorola radio.”
27 May 1991, Casper (WY) Star-Tribune, “Letters,” pg. A9, col. 2:
No one can create a car that can outrun a Motorola two-way radio.

Never, Ever Try to Outrun the Law
Elwood Blues was right: you can’t outrun a police radio, or a helicopter.
BY JUSTIN HUGHES MAY 31, 2017
During a car chase scene in the much-maligned Blues Brothers 2000, Elwood Blues drops a gold nugget of wisdom: “You can’t outrun a Motorola.” Though numerous companies make two-way police radios, Elwood’s point remains true: it is impossible to outrun a radio, because radio waves travel at the speed of light. You may easily ditch the officer behind you, but there will be more police waiting for you up the road when he radios ahead. Between radios and helicopters, there’s pretty much no way you’re going to escape. It’s not worth running and putting yourself, and others, at risk.

The police ALWAYS win in end. A Glock or AR-15 can’t outrun a Motorola ... and infinite backup. So even trying to stop the “bad guys” from having guns (by denying them from the rest of us) is futile and pointless.
But the point actually is ... to disarm us honest folk.
