Wikipedia: Yorkville, Manhattan
Yorkville is a neighborhood in the greater Upper East Side, in the Borough of Manhattan in New York City. Yorkville’s boundaries include: the East River on the east, 96th Street (where East Harlem begins) on the north, Third Avenue on the west and 72nd Street to the south. However, its southern boundary is a subject of debate. What is certain is that Yorkville’s boundaries have changed over time. Its western half was referred to as “Irishtown.” The neighborhood’s main artery, East 86th Street, was sometimes called the “German Broadway.”[citation needed] Yorkville is part of Manhattan Community Board 8.

NEW YORK (AP)—Yorkville’s German-Americans, who thought if the Irish could have a green line down 5th Ave. they should have a blue line, have won their fight—thanks to a few Irishmen.

The Yorkvillians wanted the blue line painted down the middle of East 86th St. for their Steuben Day parade this Saturday, but Traffic Commissioner Henry Barnes turned them down.

Trash plan relieves our neighborhoods, but west of the Hudson, it’s just more of the same old garbage from New York City

The people of Yorkville didn’t get a lot of love at City Hall two weeks ago when the City Council’s sanitation committee finally moved toward a vote on New York’s 20-year Solid Waste Management Plan. When one Yorkvillian tried to take a seat in a crowded row of chairs, a Sunset Park activist declared loudly that the move to sit was just another example of “that feeling of entitlement” and yelled to her young activists not to yield their chairs.
