“Why’d they call it Burger King when they could have just called it ‘Excaliburger’”
Burger King (a fast food restaurant chain) has nothing to do with King Arthur and his mythical sword “Excalibur,” but there are some “Excaliburger” jokes.
“quickly! to the town square! someone has pulled Excaliburger from the ancient stone! England has a new Burger King!” was posted on X/Twitter by Maximum Chud on October 17, 2015. “The true Burger King was the one who could pull a steak knife from a stone. That knife, of course, was Excaliburger” was posted on X/Twitter by Truly S. Wikipedia: Excalibur
Excalibur is the mythical sword of King Arthur that may possess magical powers or be associated with the rightful sovereignty of Britain. Its first reliably datable appearance is found in Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Historia Regum Britanniae. Excalibur as the “sword in the stone” functioning as the proof of Arthur’s lineage is an iconic motif featured throughout most works dealing with Arthur’s youth since its introduction in Robert de Boron’s Merlin.
