A joke was told about “higher education: in 1991:
 
Q: Why did the little moron take a ladder to school?
A: He wanted to get a higher education! 
 
The “ladder” was changed to an “airplane” by at least 2002:
   
Q: Why did the child study in the aeroplane?
A; He wanted a higher education!
   
The airplane version soon became included in many joke books.
