A popular redneck joke is:
 
Q: Why are a Texas tornado and a Tennessee divorce the same?
A: Somebody’s gonna lose a trailer.
 
The joke was cited in a “That’s Jake” comic strip by Jake Vest in September 1993, not mentioning any state:
 
“A tornado and a divorce are the same to me. They’re both liable to kill you and either way you’ll probably lose a trailer.”
 
“Texas tornado” became part of the joke by at least 1995.
