“When you die, you go to Willie Nelson’s house” (Austin musician saying)
Austin prides itself as the “Live Music Capital of the World.” When a rock ‘n’ roll legend dies, he or she might go to “rock ‘n’ roll heaven.” In Austin, if you’re a good musician, it’s said that “when you die, you go to Willie Nelson’s house.”
Waylon Jennings possibly originated a form of the phrase (first cited in the 1980s), but it’s been popularized by Kinky Friedman.
