“When work feels overwhelming, remember that you’re going to die”
“When work feels overwhelming, remember that you’re going to die” is a jocular saying that has been printed on many ecards. The saying has been cited in print since at least September 2007, when the New York (NY) Times stated that this was the most popular card at Someecards.com.

A few weeks ago, Laura Bonner received an e-mail alert at her office computer: A friend she hadn’t heard from in ages had sent her an electronic greeting from a Web site called Someecards.com.

This kind of thinking has created an opening for edgier sites like Someecards.com, whose most popular card is a vintage black-and-white illustration of a little boy sitting on a stack of books, bearing the message: “When work feels overwhelming, remember that you’re going to die.”

Someecards raises round, for funnier e-greeting cards

A New York City startup is offering humorous e-cards with a novel strategy: Be funny.
Okay, that’s a little unfair to the competition, but Someecards made me laugh a lot harder than what I’ve seen on sites like Funny eCards. Traditional sites may be fancier, but they’re also … cuter. Someecards, on the other hand, features content written by former Onion writer Brook Lundy and his partner Duncan Mitchell, and the humor is smart and mean. The most popular card, for example, reads, “When work feels overwhelming, remember that you’re going to die.”

E-cards are BIG business. I, Fake Jane, love them because they’re usually free and don’t require the painstaking work of actually writing a note and mailing it. Point, click, done. But I’m sick of sappy e-cards. Now, e-cards that are just sick! Here they are, at Some Ecards. Today’s top-mailed e-card from the site is “This Friendship Day, let’s pause to remember how empty our lives would be without alcohol,” and the most popular e-card is, “When work feels overwhelming, remember that you’re going to die.”
