“What you appreciate appreciates” is a chapter in Lynne Twist’s book, The Soul of Money: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Life (2003). “If you truly appreciate what you have, you will feel better and better,” a blog writer explained in 2007. Twist’s aphorism has been cited frequently.

What you appreciate appreciates. If you truly appreciate what you have, you will feel better and better. Appreciation of what is, can break the cycle of wanting more and more. She has several suggestions on increasing appreciation. One is using Appreciative Inquiry in our lives. This approach has been successfully applied all over the world. In the early days I spend my day wating for the crying, dreading the next moment she would scream out for attention and need me desperately, even though I just put her down two minutes ago. I was living permanently on edge; on call 24 hours a day.
