Wikipedia: Eh
Eh (/ˈeɪ/ or /ˈɛ/) is a spoken interjection in English that is similar in meaning to “Excuse me?,” “Please repeat that”, or “huh?”. It is also commonly used as an alternative to the question tag right?, i.e., method for inciting a reply, as in “It’s nice here, eh?” (instead of “It’s nice here, right?”) In North America, it is most commonly associated with Canada and Canadian English, and with Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Similar interjections exist in other languages, such as Dutch, Armenian, Hokkien Chinese, Japanese, French, Finnish, Italian, Greek, Hebrew, Malay, Spanish, Persian, Portuguese, Arabic, Turkish, Korean, Catalan and Filipino.

27 July 1991, The Globe and Mail (Toronto, ON), “THE CHALLENGE (22) In vitamins veritas” by Warren Clements, pg. D9, col. 6:
Vitamin Eh: Long thought by English-speaking Canadians to stimulate conversation and impart strength to the Constitution. Now known to have debilitating soporific side-effects that are manifest as an irresistible propensity to circular debate, along with distinct societal insecurity and combativeness.
