“Grave-y” (gravy) is a typical Halloween dish. “Boned foul with grave-y” was a Halloween menu selection printed in an October 1961 newspaper.

“What do ghosts put on their Christmas turkey? Grave-y” was printed in a 2007 book. “What do ghosts like on their roast beef??? GRAVE-Y! I luv Laffy Taffy jokes” was posted on Twitter on February 11, 2009. “What do ghosts put on their mashed potatoes??? GRAVE-Y!!” was posted on Twitter on May 9, 2011.

“What do ghosts put on their bagels?”/“Scream cheese” is a similar ghost riddle.
