“What do you call it when your computer goes to sleep?”/“A naptop.”

“Naptop” is a portmanteau of the words “nap” and “laptop” that has been printed on many images. It has meant when a cat or a person goes to sleep on a laptop computer. The term “naptop” has also meant when a laptop goes into sleep mode.

A short sleep on top of your MacBook keyboard’” was posted on X/Twitter by Laura J. Nelson 🦅 on Mach 10, 2011. “Marmalade is ‘sleep surfing’ on ~ my laptop…...her naptop 🙂” (a cat is shown sleeping on a laptop) was posted on Facebook by Le Chateau Le Puss on December 15, 2012.
