“We go together like cocaine and waffles”

The film comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006) introduced combinations that sort (but not really) go together, like “Chinese food and chocolate pudding” and “cocaine and waffles” and “peanut butter and ladies.” The odd combinations have been frequently cited.

“We go together like biscuits and gravy” and “We go together like Corona and lime” are more standard food/drink sayings.

ELECTRIC PAIRINGS: FROM ST VINCENT TO BIEBER
BY MEREDITH CONNELLY
There are certain classic pairings in this world: peanut butter and jelly, wine and cheese, chocolate and hazelnut. Perhaps the most beautiful of such parings is the glorious and long-standing union between laser tag and electronic music.

Some of these pairings seem as naturally cohesive as, say, peanut butter and ladies (if you’re John C. Reilly) while others leave fans disillusioned rather than delighted by the combination.
