“We go hard” (Brooklyn Nets slogan)

“Brooklyn Go Hard” is a 2008 single from rap artist Jay-Z. “Brooklyn, we go hard, we go hard” is a repeated lyric in the song, and there are references to the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team.

The New Jersey Nets basketball team moved to Brooklyn and became the Brooklyn Nets in 2012. “#BrooklynNets doesn’t really flow…. but at least I’ll have a team to root for when I move to Brooklyn! #wegohard” was posted on Twitter by Chelsea Rose on September 26, 2011. “Can’t wait to get to the NBA store to get some @brooklynnets merch #brooklynwegohard #wegohard” was posted on Twitter  by Anthony Tartamella on April 30, 2012. “Still basking in the glow? Want to relive the victory? Visit our Game Center: http://www.nba.com/nets/news/nets-vs-raptors-game-1-take-two … #hellobrooklyn #wegohard” was posted on Twitter by Brooklyn Nets (the team’s official Twitter) on November 4, 2012.

“Brooklyn We Go Hard” was trademarked—not by the Brooklyn Nets—with a 2012 filing date.

“Brooklyn Go Hard” is the second promo single by rap artist Jay-Z, featuring additional vocals by alternative musician Santigold. The song was produced by Kanye West. It appears on the soundtrack to The Notorious B.I.G. biopic Notorious for which it serves as the theme song. It was released on December 1, 2008, as an exclusive download available via subscription to (RED)Wire, with a portion of the profits going towards Bono’s Product Red organization. In 2013, it was used in a trailer and several television commercials for the Jackie Robinson biopic 42: The True Story of an American Legend.

Wikipedia: Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets are an American professional basketball team based in the borough of Brooklyn, in New York City. The Nets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team plays its home games at Barclays Center. They are one of two NBA teams located in New York City; the other is the New York Knicks. The team was established in 1967 as a charter franchise of the NBA’s rival league, the American Basketball Association (ABA). They played in New Jersey as the New Jersey Americans during their first season, before moving to Long Island in 1968 and changing their name to the New York Nets.

In 1977, the team returned to New Jersey and played as the New Jersey Nets from 1977 to 2012. During this time, the Nets won two consecutive Eastern Conference championships (in the 2001–02 and 2002–03 seasons), but failed to win a league title. In the summer of 2012, the team moved to Barclays Center, and took its current geographic name.

This is not a depiction of all brooklynites, but a short snippet in the life of a career criminal, was recently released from prison into a cold world where he feels hopeless and feels his only choices for coping are to numb himself with alcohol, rob and steal from the world that turned their back on him until its time to clock out.
