“We are launching this innovation for the first time”

New York City Mayor Jimmy Walker (1881-1946), who served from 1926 to 1932, is infrequently quoted for saying, “We are launching this innovation for the first time.” The alleged quote does not show up in the archives of The New York Times or in other databases.

“Innovation” and “for the first time” are terms with the same meaning.
