When you water something, you add water to keep it alive. When you milk something, you take milk away to keep it comfortable.

When you “water” something you add water to it, but when you “milk” something you take milk from it.

To water something, you put water in it. But to milk something, you take the milk from it.

To water something is to apply water to it while to milk something is to exctract milk from it
