Wall Streeter

A “Wall Streeter” is someone who works on Wall Street—usually in the financial industry. A “Wall Streeter” could also mean someone who lives on Wall Street, but few people do. “Wall Street” was cited in May 1844 by Shepard’s (a stationery supplier), but it is not clear if a purely financial use was intended. “He deserted the dollar-worshipers and their Babel, for a retreat among the lakes, where he led what the Wall-streeters called a useless life” was cited in print in February 1854.
