Wake and Bake (marijuana-infused coffee)

Marijuana was legalized in the state of Washington, and Mirth Provisions (“Legal” beverages) of Longview, Washington, introduced marijuana-infused coffee in 2014.  “We call it the wake and bake drink,” said Mirth founder Adam Stites in May 2014.

The slang term “wake and bake,” meaning to smoke marijuana as one of the first acts after waking up in the morning, has been used in slang since at least the 1990s.

Seattle Summer Just Got Infinitely More Chill With ‘Legal’ Brand Pot Infused Cold Brew & Soda

In a stroke of genius, Longview, WA’s Adam Stites has combined the two substances PNW folk love the most—marijuana and coffee. The coyly named “Legal” brand beverage line packs 20 mg of THC into a discretely designed bottle of cold brew coffee, an invention that might give Stumptown a run for its money.

“We call it a wake and bake high” Stites explains. The caffeine gives you a body buzz that makes you alert, while the sativa strain infused in the coffee gives you a heady high. According to Stites, his pot-coffee might be the first of its kind.

Budding marijuana business gives new meaning to ‘coffee pot’
BY JOSH KERNS on May 9, 2014 @ 1:51 pm (Updated: 3:14 pm - 5/9/14 )
The legalization of marijuana in Washington will bring with it a variety of new products and ways to get high. One aspiring marijuana mogul is giving new meaning to the term “coffee pot.”

Adam Stites of Longview, Wash. has come up with a line of cold-brewed coffee-infused drinks he cleverly calls “Legal” beverages. And there’s no doubt about its intended effects.

“The coffee drinks give you an uplifting head high. We call it the wake and bake drink,” he says. Stites says the cold brewed cannabis beverage could be a first, and he’s experimented for some time to come up with the right combination.

Your morning joe just got a little more Mary Jane.

Marijuana coffee is coming to the state of Washington, and the product is promising consumers a caffeinated buzz. The cold-brewed cannibis-infused coffee, called Legal, is expected to hit the market in early July, product developer Adam Stites told The Huffington Post on Monday.

“It’s an alert, creative high,” he said.

Stites also calls it “the wake and bake drink,” according to My Northwest.
