Wikipedia: Marmite
Marmite (/ˈmɑːrmaɪt/ MAR-myte) is a British savoury food spread, based on yeast extract invented by the German scientist Justus von Liebig. It is made from by-products of beer brewing (see Lees (fermentation)) and is produced by the British company Unilever. Marmite is a vegan source of B vitamins, including supplemental vitamin B12. A traditional use is to spread it very thinly on buttered toast.

Vegemite is the Australian version of Marmite, and is weaker tasting, so it certainly wouldn’t be that. (both are yeast extract - marketed during the war as a source of B vitamins).

Vegemite is the Australian version of Marmite.
I don’t know about you guys, but it kinda irks me that a lot of people on Reddit seem to imply that Vegemite is some unique shit that Australia has.

It is just a slightly tinkered about with version of Marmite that they only developed because Australians started to cry hard that marmite was not being delivered in the midst of a fucking World War.
