McKinney, Texas - 2005 Annual Report
Pg. 1:
A brand new McKinney
2005 welcomed a brand new McKinney. In February, the McKinney City Council approved a new logo, slogan and branding campaign for the city: McKinney, Unique by Nature.
The new community-wide brand has been warmly received. The Dallas Morning News called it a “home run” and the Dallas Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators honored the branding campaign with two Bronze Quill Awards for Best Marketing Communication and Best Strategic Communication.
Events in 2005—from the arrival of environmentally friendly businesses to the city’s warm welcome of Hurricane Katrina evacuees to the unique approach of the new McKinney Arts Commission—proved there is substance to McKinney’s message of being “unique by nature.”
31 January 2007, Plano (TX) Star Courier, pg. 2A, col. 1:
With the motto “Unique by nature,” McKinney officials said it’s a part of city culture to be environmentally aware, which draws unique businesses, such as the first experimental-green Wal-Mart and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified Toyota dealership in the nation.
