“Twitter makes you love people you’ve never met; Facebook makes you hate people you actually know”
“Twitter makes me like people I’ve never met and Facebook makes me hate people I know in real life” was tweeted by Shayla Maddow on October 13, 2010. A cartoon appeared in The Next Web on October 20, 2010.
“Twitter makes you love people you’ve never met and Facebook makes you hate people you actually know” was sent on Twitter by Scotty Rosenberg on February 26, 2011. The differences between Facebook and Twitter were also noticed by others and the saying was described in a March 3, 2011 Washington (DC) Post blog as an “old adage (old might not be quite the word).”

It is true isn’t it? People you know who suddenly turn into link sharing, status updating, friend connecting, farmville freaks. Very annoying.

People ask me what the difference in Twitter and Facebook. I tell them that Facebook is (mostly) about connecting with people you know. Twitter is about connecting with people you’ve never met.

The old adage (old might not be quite the word) is that Facebook makes you loathe people you know while Twitter makes you like ones you’ve never met.
