Truther or Troofer/Trufer (9/11 Truth movement follower)

A “truther” is a follower of the “9/11 Truth” movement—individuals who are skeptical of the official story that two airplanes hijacked by Islamic terrorists brought down buildings at the World Trade Center site on September 11, 2001. Some “truthers” have doubts, while others are convinced that simultaneous explosions were used to bring the buildings down. Some “truthers” blame the U.S. government under President George W. Bush, claiming that “9/11 was an inside job.”

The word “truther” did exist (however sparsely used) before September 11, 2001, meaning “one who seeks truth.” The 9/11 “truther” term began to be used by at least June 2005.

Truthers were quickly mocked as conspiracy theorists. A child’s pronunciation of the word “truth” as “truf” or “troof” became “trufer” and “troofer,” both cited in print by 2006.

Wikipedia: 9/11 Truth movement
9/11 Truth movement is the collective name of loosely affiliated organizations and individuals who question the mainstream account of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Adherents of the movement advocate and discuss different hypotheses about how the attacks happened and call for a new investigation into the attacks.

Some of the organizations state that there is evidence that individuals within the United States government may have been either responsible for or knowingly complicit in the September 11 attacks. Motives given include the use of the attacks to initiate the launch of wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and in creating the opportunities to curtail civil liberties. Members of the movement are often referred to as “truthers”, “conspiracy theorists”, occasionally as “9/11 deniers”, and by sympathetic writers as “9/11 skeptics.” Members of the movement hold diverse views on other political issues.

Truther
A crazy person who believes the US government committed 9/11. Truthers get their inspiration from a moronic documentary called “Loose Change” which provides no facts whatsoever and has been thoroughly debunked. People who disagree with the truthers are repeatedly called government shills since truthers have no logical argument to counter the evidence.
Truther: 9/11 was an inside job!
Sane person: Prove it.
Truther: There was no plane at the Pentagon, only a missile!
Sane person: There’s dozens of witnesses and plane debris was found all over the place.
Truther: ...Well the WTC was a controlled demolition!
Sane person: Why did both buildings collapse from the point of impact then? Pretty crazy the explosives were in the exact spot the plane hit and didn’t explode upon impact.
Truther: ...You’re just a government shill! Enjoy your FEMA camp when the NWO rolls around!

Trufer
The word “trufer” is used as a pejorative to describe 9/11 conspiracy loons, also known as truther(s), because they love to parade around with stupid chants and piss people off with their psycho babble.
Trufer: “WHAT DO WE WANT? TRUTH! WHEN DO WE WANT IT? NOW!”
Sane person: “Jesus. It’s like their religion. If they spent as much time shouting and passing out pamphlets they made at Kinkos as they did actually trying to model the building collapse like Penn State University did, people might care.”

9/11-truthers confront NIST on WTC collapse
The Commerce Department’s National Institute for Standards and Technology has been in charge of manufacturing fantastical scenarios under which the collapse of the World Trade Center towers were anything but a planned, controlled demolitin. They held a public briefing on Thursday, June 23.
From 911TruthAction’s AJ Ward at alia, Jun 23:
The NIST WTC review press conference was held this morning and was web-cast called the “NIST Response to the World Trade Center Disaster - Federal Building and Fire Safety Investigation of the World Trade Center Disaster”

Madonna a 9/11-truther
This is a very interesting quote from pop star Madonna. The clear implication is that 9/11 was an inside job. but that the evidence is too confusing for the brainwashed masses to digest.

This is from a new interview in Rolling Stone, excerpted in People Nov 16:  “On George W. Bush she takes a much sterner position. “I was just frigging devastated,” she says of his re-election last year. “It was a real sad day.” She rationalizes the way the election swung on Bush’s making the public feel safe ¨C until, she says, Hurricane Katrina blew in.

“9/11 was too ambiguous,” she tells the magazine. “You couldn’t prove how the government was somehow in on the deal. There were too many arguments against it. You could say, ‘Oh, that’s just Michael Moore,’ ‘Oh, that’s just hearsay.’ New Orleans was undeniable irresponsibility.”

The Trufers have never learned that lesson. Whether it is because they have no expertise, or are truly shoddy in their capabilities, I won’t guess. This is mainly because none of them claim any expertise (I except those who have shown by word and/or deed that they truely have no competence in their chosen field of expertise—J’doh comes immediately to mind).
The point here is that most of us are willing to grant a level of expertise, and respect, to those who have shown that they know what they are talking about. We all know that there are things we are unqualified to have an opinion on, and defer to those who are. Trufers have the philosophy that if they can’t understand it (i.e., it has math above algebra level, chemistry, or physics) it must be a lie. They have not learned the lesson—and may never do so.

Truthers, as they are called, hold a wide range of (often mutually exclusive) theories about what took place on September 11, 2001. They break down into two broad camps: those who believe that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney made 9/11 happen on purpose and those who believe that they let 9/11 happen on purpose. Truthers bristle at being called conspiracy theorists even as they argue that the president had explosives planted in the World Trade Center to ensure the collapse of the Twin Towers after airplanes struck them, had a missile fired at the Pentagon, and shot down Flight 93 in an effort to start a series of wars that would lead to the seizure of Middle Eastern oil and the securing of a pipeline through Afghanistan.
