Tribeca Design District
The Tribeca Design District is a name for the many design-oriented shops and showrooms located in Tribeca (Triangle Below Canal Street in Manhattan). Jean Lin of Colony—The Designers’ Co-op (324 Canal Street) and David Weeks of David Weeks Studio (38 Walker Street) came up with the name and the Tribeca Design District map.
The “Tribeca Design District” was introduced with several articles in May 2015.

Introducing the Tribeca Design District
May 5, 2015
Jean Lin of Colony and David Weeks have accomplished what many have discussed: They’ve marshaled Tribeca’s many design-oriented shops and showrooms into the Tribeca Design District and created a map posted online and available at the members’ locations. (Maybe the galleries will be next….)
What’s more, the inaugural Tribeca Night—timed with NYCxDesign but open to everyone—will be Thursday, May 14. Below are all the members of the Tribeca Design District; the ones with an asterisk are staying open late and serving refreshments from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

David Weeks, Patrick Parrish and Jean Lin Share The Origins of New York’s Newest Design Destination
BY RAY HU - MAY 14, 2015
(...)
As of this week, this wedge of the Manhattan, f.k.a. the Lower West Side, will assume yet another designation as the Tribeca Design District — thanks largely to a colonizer, of sorts, who is looking to codify the neighborhood’s status as a bona fide design destination.
The initiative finds its origins in a conversation last summer, over lunch, between then-new kid on the block Jean Lin and David Weeks, a Brooklyn-based veteran designer who’d expanded his eponymous studio to a storefront on Walker Street in October 2013.
(...)
To that end, Lin forged ahead with the map and website — to overwhelmingly positive response from her compatriots — and she’s paying it forward precisely because she’s already gone all-in
