Sleigh in 1855 as The Daily Telegraph and Courier. Since 2004, it has been owned by David and Frederick Barclay. The paper had a circulation of 523,048 in March 2014, down from 1.4 million in 1980.

It has a sister paper, The Sunday Telegraph, started in 1961, which had circulation of 418,670 as of March 2014. Articles published in either may be published on the Telegraph Media Group’s http://www.telegraph.co.uk website, under the title of The Telegraph.
