Tipsy Palmer or Tipsy Arnold Palmer (cocktail)

An “Arnold Palmer” drink combines lemonade and iced tea. A “Tipsy Palmer” (or “Tipsy Arnold Palmer”) adds vodka or bourbon. “Tipsy Palmer” has been cited since at least June 2009 and “Tipsy Arnold Palmer” from at least August 2009.

There are many names for alcoholic “Arnold Palmer” drinks—such as “Spiked Arnold Palmer,” “Adult Arnold Palmer,” “Grown-Up Arnold Palmer,” “Hard Arnold Palmer,” “Drunk Arnold Palmer” and also “John Daly” (a golfer known for his drinking)—and many of these these existed before “Tipsy Palmer” was first cited in print.

Wikipedia: Arnold Palmer
Arnold Daniel Palmer (September 10, 1929 – September 25, 2016) was an American professional golfer, who is generally regarded as one of the greatest players in professional golf history. He won numerous events on both the PGA Tour and Champions Tour, dating back to 1955. Nicknamed “The King”, he was one of golf’s most popular stars and its most important trailblazer, because he was the first superstar of the sport’s television age, which began in the 1950s.

3. Tipsy Arnold Palmer. Sweetened bottled versions of lemonade and iced tea can be pretty loaded with sugar. However, if we brew our own iced tea and squeeze our own lemons, with a bit of sugar substitute and 2 ounces of vodka, we can make a really tasty cocktail that doesn’t have so many calories. Or, the light Minute Maid version and some diet iced tea will work for the domestically challenged.

Ingredients:
3 oz. light lemonade (or juice of one lemon plus 3 oz. water and sugar substitute)
3 oz. diet iced tea (or 2 teabags steeped in 3 oz. water)
2 oz. vodka Sprig of mint (optional)
Ice Pour over ice. Stir. Enjoy. Just don’t try to play golf after two of these.

The sweet, citrusy tea-lemonade combo mellows the alcoholic flavor in bourbon, making a smooth-drinking cocktail that’ll convert even those who claim not to like the brown stuff.

If I’m entertaining, I’ll make a big batch with fresh-squeezed lemonade and bracing black tea, but I’ve also picked up many a bottle of pre-made lemonade and iced tea (usually black, sometimes black and green) on my way to other parties. Garnished with a fresh lemon wedge and served in a Collins glass on ice, the Tipsy Palmer tastes to me like endless summer.
