“This is my house.”/“What’s upstairs?”/“Stairs don’t talk.”
“What’s upstairs?” shouldn’t be confused with “What’s up, stairs?” A house joke was posted on Twitter by fishy🐠 on September 9, 2018:
Me: and this is my house
Friend: what’s upstairs
Me: stairs don’t talk

So I was showing my friends the first floor of my house. When one of them said “What’s upstairs?”.
I told him that the stairs don’t talk. #joke

The joke is, this guy is asking what was upstairs, as in the upper level of his house. However, the friend interpreted it as asking the stairs “what’s up”, and since stairs are inanimate and don’t talk, he thought he would clarify that.
