“They don’t lie to you because the truth will hurt your feelings…”

“They don’t lie to you because the truth will hurt your feelings. They lie to you because the truth might provoke you to make choices that won’t serve their interest(s)” is a saying that has been printed on many images. The saying usually means that government and the media lie to you not to protect you, but to protect the elite from you (who would be outraged by the truth). The saying also applies to lies in relationships.
