“These Korean meatballs really are the dogs bollocks”

“Korean meatballs—they really are the dogs bollocks” is a jocular one-liner that has been printed on many images. English comedian Hugh Dennis said on the British topical, satirical celebrity panel show Mock the Week, under the category “What a TV Chef Would Never Say,” on February 1, 2007:

“Well, these Korean meatballs really are the dog’s bollocks.”

The joke was posted on the newsgroup uk.sport.football.clubs.liverpool on August 24, 2008:

“Have you tried the Korean meatballs from Lidl’s ? I’m telling you they are the dogs bollocks !”

The joke is from the United Kingdom and is mostly unknown in the United States (where “bollocks” would be called “balls”). “The dogs bollocks” means “the best thing ever.”

Due to the credit crunch and the hike in food prices I am now shopping in cheaper food outlets.  Have you tried the Korean meatballs from Lidl’s ? I’m telling you they are the dogs bollocks !

Pained by the economic downturn, (Stephen—ed.) Pound says he’s taken to shopping in Lidl, who sell Korean meatballs that are “the dogs bollocks” and to parking in disabled spots, claiming, profanely, that his disability is Tourette’s.
