“There’s plenty of room for all God’s creatures—right next to the mashed potatoes”

“There’s plenty of room for all God’s creatures—right next to the mashed potatoes” has been an advertisement for the Saskatoon Restaurant in Greenville, SC, since at least 1991. Sarah Palin wrote in her book, Going Rogue: An American Life (2009), of an Alaskan version: “I always remind people from outside our state that there’s plenty of room for all Alaska’s animals—right next to the mashed potatoes.” The saying has been printed on generic bumper stickers that are not connected with the Saskatoon Restaurant.
