“There is only one and this is it” (Carnegie Deli)

Carnegie Deli (near Carnegie Hall) is famous for its large sandwiches. Its slogan ("There is only one and there is it") is less famous. There is a Carnegie Deli is Las Vegas, so there's actually more than just one.

As their slogan says, "There is only one" Carnegie Deli. This is classic NYC: fast-paced, good food, somewhat high prices, and everything is BIG. This location is a few blocks walk from Time's Square but worth it. If you are visiting the city for the first time, you have to go to the Carnegie Deli. Keep in mind that this is a popular location with locals, business people, and tourists who stray from Time's Square. Plan on waiting about 20 minutes at the peak of lunch hour (noon to 2pm). The line will look very long, and many people pass on this place when they see the line. (Which explains the many Carnegie deli knock-offs in the surrounding area that lure in the tourists). Don't let this happen to you - the line moves very, very quickly. The way the Carnegie Deli manages this feat is by seating you anywhere that is available. There is a good chance you will share a long bench-style table with total strangers. If this is not for you, you probably don't want to eat here.
