“The tassel’s worth the hassle”

“The tassel’s worth the hassle” is an education saying that has been printed on many images. The saying means that graduation (of which the tassel is a symbol) is worth all the hassles and hard work to achieve it.

“Tassel is worth the hassle” was popularized by Christian author and speaker Robert H. Schuller (1926-2015), who used this as a chapter title in his book The 10 Best Messages (1977).

Wikipedia: Robert H, Schuller
Robert Harold Schuller (September 16, 1926 – April 2, 2015) was an American Christian televangelist, pastor, motivational speaker, and author.

In his five decades of television, Schuller was principally known for the weekly Hour of Power television program, which he began hosting in 1970 until his retirement in 2010. Schuller began broadcasting the program from the Neutra Sanctuary, with the encouragement of longtime friend Billy Graham after Schuller visited him in 1969. He was also the founder of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California, where the Hour of Power program was later broadcast.

The tassel was worth the hassle

Given this: Tassels, or liripipes, are also found on mortarboards during university graduation ceremonies and possibly upon the shoes of the graduates at the ceremony. Near the conclusion of the graduation ceremony the tassel that hangs from the graduate’s mortarboard is moved from the right to the left. Typically the entire graduating class does this in unison
I suppose that it means that the effort to obtain graduation (symbolized by the tassel) was worth the effort. In italian we could say “il gioco vale la candela”
