“The Pillsbury Dough Boy is a great roll model”

“Role model” shouldn’t be confused with “roll model,” but there are jokes, usually involving the Pillsbury Doughboy.

“Pillsbury Doughboy: Roll model,...or son of a biscuit?” was posted on the newsgroup sci.math on September 12, 1995, (“Son of a biscuit” is a joke on “son of a bitch.”) “so would the son of a biscuit be the Pillsbury dough boy?” was posted on Twitter by Alec Kotikian on January 22, 2014. “Well poke my tummy and call me the pillsbury dough boy cause son of a biscuit” was posted on Twitter by 𝓛𝓲𝓷𝓭𝓼 on November 12, 2020.

“The Death of the Pillsbury Doughboy” is a popular meme of puns that was posted on the newsgroup sci.med.prostate.prostatitis on December 2, 1997. “Still, even as a crusty old man, he was a roll model to millions” is one joke line.

“The Pillsbury Dough Boy is my roll model” was posted on Twitter by Chris Pirillo on January 4, 2010. “The Pillsbury Dough Boy is a great roll model” was posted on Twitter by Chris Pirillo on October 14, 2010. “The Pillsbury Doughboy is my roll model” was posted on Twitter by Mary Charlene on October 10, 2011. “The Pillsbury Doughboy is a great roll model” was posted on Twitter by Jon Friedman on February 24, 2012.

“What do you see when the Pillsbury Doughboy bends over?”/“Doughnuts” is another Pillsbury Doughboy joke.

Wikipedia: Pillsbury Doughboy
Poppin’ Fresh, more widely known as the Pillsbury Doughboy, is an advertising mascot for the Pillsbury Company, appearing in many of their commercials. Many commercials from 1965 until 2005 (together with some for GEICO between 2009 and 2017) concluded with a human finger poking the Doughboy’s stomach. The Doughboy responds when his stomach is poked by giggling (Hoo-Hoo!, or earlier on, a slight giggle “tee hee”).

History
The Pillsbury Doughboy was created by Rudy Pers, a copywriter for Pillsbury’s longtime advertising agency Leo Burnett. Perz was sitting in his kitchen in the spring of 1965, under pressure to create an advertising campaign for Pillsbury’s refrigerated dough product line (biscuits, dinner rolls, sweet rolls, and cookies). His copywriter, Carol H. Williams, imagined a living doughboy popping out of a Pillsbury Crescent Rolls can and wrote the campaign, “Say Hello to Poppin’ Fresh Dough”.

The Death of the Pillsbury Doughboy
Veteran Pillsbury spokesman Pop N. Fresh died Wednesday of a severe
yeast infection. He was 71. He was buried Friday in one of the biggest
funerals in years. Dozens of celebrities turned out including Mrs.
Butterworth, the California Raisins, Hungry Jack, Betty Crocker, and the
Hostess Twinkies.

The gravesite was piled high with flours, as longtime friend Aunt Jemima
delivered the eulogy, describing Fresh as a man who “never knew he was
kneaded”.

Fresh rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with
turnovers. He was not considered a smart cookie, and wasted much of
his dough on half-baked schemes.

Still, even as a crusty old man, he was a roll model to millions. Fresh is
survived by his second wife. They had two children, and one in the oven , ,

A Sad Death

It is with the saddest heart that we must pass on the following news. Please join us in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community: The Pillsbury Dough Boy died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. He was a member of the Church on the Rise. Dough boy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including: Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours. Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Dough Boy as a man how never knew who much he was kneaded. Dough Boy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes.  Despite being a little flaky at times, he still, as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model for millions. Dough Boy is survived by his wife, Play Dough; two children, John Dough and Jane Dough; plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.
