“The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it’s unfamiliar territory”
“The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it’s unfamiliar territory” is a jocular saying that has been printed on many images. “Miss Stella Delaney was lost in thought. This is a warning against venturing into unfamiliar territory” was published in Harper’s Bazaar (New York, NY) on March 9, 1895.
“The only reason some people become lost in thought is because it’s unfamiliar territory to them” was published in a newspaper in June 1953. In November 1953, the Chicago (IL) Daily Tribune credited the saying to The Re-Saw.
“‘The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it’s unfamiliar territory.’—Paul Fix” was printed in the Chicago (IL) Tribune in 1983. American film and television character actor Paul Fix (1901-1983) has not been credited earlier and there is no reason to believe that he coined or popularized it in 1953 (when he was not well known).
