“The man who gives in when he’s right is married”

A classic statement about marriage was made the the New York City humor magazine Life  on April 7, 1910:
 
“The man who gives in when he is wrong is wise; the man who gives in when he is right is generally married.”
   
The short saying has been frequently reprinted for over 100 years, but usually without credit to Life magazine.
