“The cook’s course is the hardest course in the army”
“The cook’s course is the hardest course in the army/navy,” it’s often joked. “No one has passed it yet.” The joke serves as an explanation of why military food is so bad.
The joke appears to have started in the United Kingdom and is seldom used in the United States. “Hardest course in the army - no-one’s ever passed it” was said about UK military cooks in July 2005. “Come on lads everyone knows the hardest course in the Armed Forces is to train as a Army Chef. Because NO ONE as ever passed it,” also referring to UK military cooks, was said in August 2005. “The in joke of the day was that the Royal Navy catering course was the hardest course in the Navy, as no bugger had passed it!!!” was published in a 2012 book.
Wikipedia: Army Catering Corps
The Army Catering Corps (ACC) was a corps of the British Army, responsible for the feeding of all Army units. It was formed in 1941 and amalgamated into the Royal Logistic Corps in 1993.

The bloke who played Dennis from Auf Pet (cant remember his real name) was a Para.
I know he was’nt a Para but Dennis Neilson the Gay mass murderer was a Chef in the Army. (Army chef being the hardest course in the Army that is). Failing the course and working with Butchers knifes must of had an effect on him. He later became a Policeman after leaving the Army believe it or not.

Oh, and the SAF might want to make the Cook’s course a little easier. Last I heard, the SAF cooking course is the hardest course in the army and no one has ever passed it!
