Technology (Free wifi!)
[UPDATE: This was written when I was running for the office of Manhattan Borough President in 2005, and it was borrowed from a platform of Public Advocate candidate Andrew Rasiej. I have since examined WiFi and believe it to be very dangerous to human health.]
There is no reason why Manhattan shouldn't be number one in technology. The third Intel survey of wireless cities in America came out, and we're number 21!
We're the world's showplace, and we're #21?
The current Manhattan borough president doesn't appear to have spent much time on this. The other borough president candidates haven't mentioned this much, if at all. However, one public advocate candidate has made free wifi (for all five boroughs?) a top priority.
Let's get it done. Let's make it a priority. If we're #21 four years from now, something's seriously wrong.
