Tealiban (tea party + Taliban)

“Tealiban” (tea party + Taliban) is used to describe the political tea party movement that some believe is as extremist as the Taliban. “Tealiban” has been cited in print since at least March 2010.

30. The U.S. is weird in that
it seems to be based on the European fascist model as propounded by Mussolini, a system we fought a world war to defeat.
We followed the Second World War with a Cold War that concentrated national resources on wasted defense spending. In fact, we seem to be going down the same path that bankrupted the Soviet Union. In essence, we have become what we spent a half a century railing against. The Tea-liban is a reflection of that muddled thinking.

The Teabaggers are nothing but idiots who wear their ignorance and intolerance like a badge of honor. The Teabaggers are the best thing to ever happen to Democrats, they are the tealiban.

Urban Dictionary
Tealiban
A derogatory name for the “Tea Party” movement that ties their right-wing views to the oppressive ideology of the Taliban of Afghanistan.
Those protesters at Glen Beck’s rally really showed their ignorance and the dreadfully possible rise of the American Tealiban.

Dangerous Fundamentalism: The Taliban and the American Tealiban
Irony can be defined by the incongruity which occurs when actions of a group mirror the behavior of a people whom they fear and despise most. Following the 9-11 tragedy, our united front was focused mainly on eliminating the terror breeding grounds established by Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. The Taliban imposed a form of government that was unacceptable and offensive to most Americans. Absence of democratic process, equality, Islamic law and the utter subjugation of women in their culture were the antithesis of what we deemed a free society. Their total domination of media, organized rebellion against a government they considered tyrannical and Islamic ideological purity seemed so unpalatable to the Christian crusaders of the mighty USA and the George W. Bush military machine.

Yet, as the Republican Party slides down the slippery slope towards Old Testament principles, the Conservative movement mirrors the Taliban more than they realize. The Teaparty can often be referred to as the Tealiban.

Cleveland Evans: Name of the Year
MINNEAPOLIS — What names of 2013 do you think were most memorable — or just the most fun?

At the annual meeting of the American Name Society on Friday, the group chose winners in four categories: trade names, place names, fictional names and personal names, as well as the overall Name of the Year.

Trade names included any governmental or organizational name in addition to commercial names. Nominated names were Obamacare; Healthcare.gov, the problematic government website set up to allow people to buy insurance; National Security Agency (NSA); Tealiban, a pejorative term used for the Tea Party; Google Glass; and Keystone XL, the name of the proposed pipeline to transport Canadian crude oil to the Gulf Coast.
