Taxicide or Tax-icide (tax + suicide)
“Taxicide” or “tax-icide” (tax + suicide) was the name given by the New York (NY) Daily News on February 20, 2010, to the February 18th incident in Austin, TX, where Joseph Stack crashed his plane into an IRS office, killing himself and injuring others. Stack had written a suicide note protesting IRS tax actions against him.
“Taxicide” need not mean literally “suicide over taxes” and can be taken figuratively. A person or an organization that assumes an unnecessarily large tax burden can commit “taxicide.” A state or local government that taxes its citizens to death also can commit “taxicide.” This figurative meaning of “taxicide” has been cited in print since at least 1991.

The 2010 Austin suicide attack occurred on February 18, 2010, when Andrew Joseph Stack III, flying his Piper Dakota, crashed into Building I of the Echelon office complex in Austin, Texas, United States, killing himself and Internal Revenue Service manager Vernon Hunter. Thirteen others were injured, two seriously. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) field office was located in a four-story office building along with other state and federal government agencies. Prior to the crash, Stack had posted a suicide note dated February 18, 2010 to his business website.

Let’s not have Florida join the losers in other states—New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut—who are committing taxicide.

A Facebook fan page praising the Austin man who flew his plane into an IRS office, killing a Vietnam vet who worked inside, has been shut down by the social networking site.
Conservative talk show host Jon Alvarez of WFBM-AM 1390 in Syracuse created the group just hours after Andrew Joseph Stack carried out his crazed suicide mission Thursday to express his anger at the IRS.

Indians Accuse the Governor and the Mayor of Taxicide
YNN is reporting that the Seneca are once again resorting to lies and distortions in their ongoing effort to undermine the rule of law-this time taking out an ad that accuses the two law makers of, “death by taxes.” Here’s what the intrepid Liz has found: “The Seneca Free Trade Association took out this full-page ad in today’s Buffalo News that hits Gov. David Paterson and Mayor Bloomberg for the (currently stalled) effort to collect sales taxes on cigarettes sold to non-Indians on Indian land. The ad states that “Death by Taxes” is “not just a clever pun about today’s economic times, but an actual threat made by NYS Governor David Paterson and encouraged by NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg…”
