Sternie (Howard Stern fan; NYU Stern School of Business or Yeshiva University Stern College student)
"Sternie" can mean several things in New York City.
First, a "Sternie" can be a fan of radio "shock jock" Howard Stern. Stern was born in the New York City area and has broadcast at several New York-area stations before moving to satellite radio.
Second, a "Sternie" can be a student at student at New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
Third, a "Sternie" can be a student at Yeshiva University's Stern College for Women.
The NYU student use is probably the most popular (Howard Stern's fans don't prefer a nickname, and the Yeshiva school is smaller than NYU's), but all three have been used.

About to begin my senior year at the NYU Stern School of Business. I have a strong hatred for 'Sternies,' or people who go out of their way to show the rest of the world, and especially other NYU students, that they're better than everyone. They are usually characterized by being serious brown-nosers, wearing 'business-casual' attire even when they don't have to, and not having personalities. To NYU, they're known as 'Sternies', to the rest of us, they're known as 'assholes.' They give the rest of us Stern students a bad name, as well as setting up the stereotype.

LEONARD N. STERN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
The Stern School of Business is an excellent and very competitive school—and its students has a peculiar reputation/infamy in NYU for being the most snobbish, money-hungry and conservative students ever to walk around the Washington Square. Ah...the Sternies. At least their mothers love them. (Sarah: "Yes I'm allowed to write this with a clear conscience. I'm a Sternie myself.") But really, most of us aren't that bad if you give us a chance. (How that is "that"? God only knows.)
Stern College for Women (Yeshiva University)
Overview
Established in 1954 through a major gift from the late industrialist Max Stern, Stern College for Women is the undergraduate college of arts and sciences for women of Yeshiva University. It is located at YU's Israel Henry Beren Campus in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Now beginning the second half of our first century, Stern's student population is increasing in both size and diversity. More than 1000 students from some two dozen states and a similar number of foreign countries, including students registered at Sy Syms School of Business, attend classes at Stern College.
The rigorous Stern College curricula prepare women for careers, graduate study, and leadership in their communities while embodying the unique concept that the values of Judaism are relevant to the general culture of Western civilization. All students progressively obtain a strong mastery of Jewish texts through the Rebecca Ivry Department of Jewish Studies, which offers a broad selection of courses ranging in skill level from elementary to advanced.
Stern College provides academic majors in 19 arts and sciences disciplines, all leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree. It also awards the Associate in Arts degree in Hebrew language, literature, and culture. In addition, combined and joint degree programs are offered in several other disciplines--including engineering, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, Jewish studies, social work, nursing, physical therapy and occupational therapy -- in conjunction with YU's graduate schools and other leading universities.
